Roser Almenar Rodriguz is visiting our faculty this September and October as Ernst Mosing Junior Fellow. She is hosted by Barbara Steininger, professor at the Institute for Civil Law, Foreign and Private International Law and Head of the Centre for European Private Law.

Roser Almenar is a PhD Candidate and lecturer in Civil Law at the University of Valencia (Spain), researching liability for damages arising from AI-enabled space systems. She is also a member of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Secretary-General’s Youth Advisory Board, representing Europe.

She currently leads the Space Law and Policy Project Group at the Space Generation Advisory Council (SGAC), and is a Senior Research Contributor at AeroAI Global Solutions and a Board Member of the Spanish Association of Air and Space Law (AEDAE), among others.

Her research focuses on Technology and Space Law, particularly artificial intelligence, data protection, cybersecurity and telecommunications. She has been a Research Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) and the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). In addition, in 2025, she was named a Global Youth Leader by the World Internet Conference for her contributions to global discussions on technology and governance.

During her fellowship at the Department of Civil Law, Foreign and Private International Law at REWI Uni Graz, she will examine how European and international legal frameworks address liability for harm caused by AI-enabled space systems, with particular attention to the interplay between the EU AI Act, product liability, national tort law and international space law.

Ms. Almenar chose Graz for the University’s outstanding expertise in European private and tort law, which offers an ideal setting to develop her research. She particularly looks forward to working with her host, Prof. Barbara Steininger, exchanging ideas with the Faculty’s academic community, and bringing new perspectives to her doctoral research — while also discovering Graz along the way!
