On 6 June 2024, retired Ambassador Prof. Dr. Helmut Tichy was awarded the Grand Badge of Honour in Silver with Star for Services to the Republic of Austria. The award was presented on behalf of the President of Austria by the Secretary General for Foreign Affairs at the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, Ambassador Nikolaus Marschik, as part of the 47th Austrian 'Völkerrechtstag', which took place from 6 to 8 June 2024 in St. Gilgen (Salzburg). Ambassador Tichy, who headed the International Law Office at the Austrian Foreign Ministry from 2010 to 2023, is holding a 'Praxisprofessur' at the Department of International Law and International Relations at the University of Graz since October 2014. The entire team of the Graz International Law Department warmly congratulates Ambassador Tichy on the award of the Badge of Honour and the associated recognition of his services to Austrian diplomacy!
