Hello, Fellow: Ieva Hūna

We welcome Ieva Hūna as Land Steiermark Junior Fellow at our Center of East European Law and Eurasian Studies!

Ieva Hūna is a doctoral researcher at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. She holds an LL. M. in European law from Leiden University in the Netherlands. Before entering academia, she worked in the Representation of the Latvian government to the Court of Justice of the EU.

Her research interests include EU and comparative administrative law, the Court of Justice of the EU, and the interaction between EU and national legal systems. Her doctoral research focuses on the European integrated administration, in particular, composite procedures and their judicial review by the Court of Justice of the EU and the Member State courts.

At REWI Uni Graz, Ieva Hūna will be working at the Center of East European Law and Eurasian Studies to study and compare the reception of composite procedures in Latvia and Austria. Having previously lived in some of the flattest countries of Europe, she will take every opportunity to enjoy the Austrian mountains and will never say no to a hike.

On 25 November 2025., the City of Graz welcomed a distinguished Ukrainian study group as part of a programme organised by the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (RWI). The visit focused on exploring Graz’s pioneering role as a Human Rights City and its practical implementation of human rights at the local level.

Letzten Freitag zeichnete unsere Fakultät bei Best of REWI 2025 die besten Diplomstudierenden und die besten Dissertationen des vergangenen Studienjahres aus - samt Ehrenbuch, Urkunden, Tafelenthüllung und REWI-Award. Kurzum: Es gab viele Gründe zum Jubeln.

Musik trifft Recht

Am 26. November 2025 fand im Festsaal des Grazer Meerscheinschlössls eine Fortbildungsveranstaltung der Österreichischen Gesellschaft für Schule und Recht (ÖGSR) in Kooperation mit dem Zentrum für Kunst- und Kulturrecht der Universität Graz statt. Unter dem Titel „Musik und Recht“ standen das österreichische Musikschulwesen, seine rechtlichen Rahmenbedingungen und aktuelle Herausforderungen im Mittelpunkt.
