In her lecture, Olha Volynska explores the intersections of war and art. Based on her book “Art Against Artillery: Voices of Resilience”, she discusses the responses of Ukrainian artists to the war and argues that art may be a powerful tool for resistence and resilience.
The lecture is part of the Ukrainian Voices Guest Lecture Series, which is organised within the frame of the Erasmus+ project “Promoting Academic Freedom in Ukraine”. Freedom of academia is a cornerstone of democratic societies, yet it faces severe challenges during times of war. The Ukrainian Voices Guest Lecture Series provides a platform for Ukrainian scholars to share their research and experiences, highlighting academic resilience and intellectual exchange amid the ongoing war.
From May 2025 to May 2026, the University of Graz and Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań will host a series of guest lectures in a hybrid format – both on-site and online – exploring diverse themes across law, social sciences, culture, and education. Each lecture invites academic and public audiences to engage with Ukrainian perspectives on resilience, transformation, and the role of academia in times of war.
The lecture takes place in a hybrid format in SZ 15.21 in person as well as online through the link provided.
