Thirty years after the end of the post-Yugoslav Wars and the associated migrations to Austria, neither the wars nor their consequences have been addressed as topics in Austrian history lessons. Even in the most recent history curriculum for lower secondary schools, published only in 2023, the wars are only touched upon briefly. They also play a minor role in History textbooks, and teachers struggle with them, too. This presentation will present empirical findings and discuss the reasons for this long silence.
