In an increasingly interconnected world, we lawyers also have to look beyond the borders, and not only beyond the borders of Austria, but also beyond the borders of Europe. We therefore endeavor to create study opportunities for our students in many countries outside of Europe. You can apply for an Erasmus+ International place at one of our international partner universities every year between the beginning of December and the beginning of February. The next application round for stays abroad in the academic year 2026/27 starts on 9 December 2025 and you can apply for a place until 22 January 2026!
After the application deadline, the coordinators will make the selection. You will find out within a few weeks after the application deadline whether you have been selected for your favorite destination.
If not all places are fully booked, there will be further calls for open remaining places (usually in March, June and August).
!!! Please note that the deadlines change every year and the ones mentioned here are only indicative. You can find the current deadlines on the website of the International Relations Office.

The same rules apply for Erasmus Int as well as for the MoUs: (IS IT LIKE THIS? PLEASE CHECK)
- you must be enrolled for a law degree programme (i.e. Diplom, BA, MA), and
- at the start of the period abroad (not at the time of application), you will have completed at least the first year of the degree programme relevant to the stay abroad – this corresponds to approximately 50 to 60 ECTS credits.
- You must not be employed by the University of Graz.
There are various support options within the framework of Student Exchange Agreements and Erasmus+ International.
The following regulations apply to Erasmus+ International stays:
- Erasmus+ international grant: You will receive €700 per month of stay to cover increased living costs.
- Erasmus+ international grant for short-term PhD mobilities: Up to the 14th day, the grant is €79 per day, from the 15th to the 30th day it is approximately €56 per day
- Travel allowance : this amounts up to € 1,735 - the amount of the allowance depends on the distance to the host university.
- REWI Top Up for all our students: € 900 (one-off).
- Travel cost allowance: In addition to the Erasmus+ grant, there is also a travel cost contribution depending on the distance between the University of Graz and the host institution.
- Top Up for students with fewer opportunities: €250/month if you:
- have children requiring care who are taken to the place of study.
- have a disability pass.
- have health problems and therefore have increased financial expenses during your stay abroad (allergies and food intolerances are excluded).
- Inclusionsupport: If the top-up is not sufficient for students with fewer opportunities, you can apply for inclusion support if you have a disability or chronic illness. If you have any questions, please contact the International Relations Office.
- Study abroad grant: If you receive Austrian study grant, you can also apply for a study abroad grant - this does not reduce the mobility grant. For more information, please contact the Study Grant Office (0316/81 33 88, Metahofgasse 30, 8020 Graz).
