If you have completed examinations at another university in Austria, you must have them recognized if they are also to count towards your studies at the University of Graz.
Please note: Recognition for examinations taken before admission must be applied for by the end of the second semester at the latest. Otherwise, recognition is no longer possible!
Forecasts...
Information/forecasts on the equivalence/creditability of credits are generally not possible. The possibility of recognition can only be examined once a corresponding application for recognition has been submitted in accordance with all applicable study law requirements.
Exception: In the case of a change of diploma studies in law within Austria, there is non-binding recognition information on which achievements from diploma studies in law at other Austrian universities could be recognized.
Required documents
The following documents are required for the recognition of credits earned at other Austrian universities:
- Application for recognition as PDF (= "recognition print list" from UNIGRAZonline)
- Certificate with official signature or original (= with stamp and signature of the issuing institution)
- Complete official course description from the semester in which the course/examination was completed (from the electronic course catalog of the other university) as a PDF. Exception: Descriptions are not required if recognition is requested exactly in accordance with recognition information or free electives .
- Further documents must be submitted on request - e.g. (expired) curricula, etc.
In the case of a change of university (change of diploma program within Austria), additional documents must be submitted (see below).

What is there to consider?
Please note that deadlines must be observed for every change of university. These may be relevant, for example Deadlines in connection with the admission procedure, enrollment deadlines, ...
Please clarify the requirements and deadlines, especially with regard to the admission procedure and enrolment, with the responsible offices!
Furthermore, registration deadlines for courses must also be taken into account (start and end: usually well before the start of the semester). You can only register for courses and examinations if you are still enrolled.
Credits that you have earned at another university will only be taken into account once the recognition procedure has been completed. Therefore: Allow sufficient time (= at least several weeks processing time) for the recognition process in order to be able to meet the registration deadlines for courses and examinations once the letter of recognition has been issued.
