Notes on registration
The admission requirement for the doctoral programme at the University of Graz is a relevant degree from a recognized domestic or foreign post-secondary educational institution.
Admission/application is made at the university's study department. After admission to the doctoral program, the dissertation topic must be submitted in writing to the Dean's Office.
1. your topic and your supervisors
Choosing your topic and your supervisors is the first major step towards obtaining your doctorate: your research should contribute to the advancement of knowledge in your field of science at a national and international level. The following first administrative steps are necessary:
- Template exposé
- Title page template
- Define the title/topic of the dissertation in German and English
- Determine the dissertation subject and the specialization subject(Attention! These must be two different subjects!)
- Sign supervision agreement
2. registration for the study program
Send the following documents with all required signatures by e-mail to the Department of Studies and Teaching:
- your exposé
- the form"Application for the study program"
- the supervision agreement
3. registration for the defense of the dissertation project
The defense of the dissertation project should take place within the first year of study. Fixed dates are available. After clarifying with both supervisors whether they are available as committee members on the desired date, a request must be sent by e-mail to the Department of Studies and Teaching at least 14 days before the agreed date. To process the request, all documents listed in step 2 must be submitted with all signatures. You can find more information here.
