The lecture opening the series “Ukrainian Evenings in Uni Graz: War Blackout – Highlights from Ukrainian Scholars at Risk" is dedicated to the issue of positioning Ukraine and its destinations as brands in the world. Dr. Mariia Rastvorova (Visiting PostDoc Researcher in the Institute of Geography and Regional Sciences) will share the results of her investigations about the approaches implemented for the branding of rural territorial communities and big cities in Ukraine before the war and the transformation of destination branding in the situation of the Russian military aggression and the war in Ukraine.

 

Dr. Mariia Rastvorova is a Postdoctoral research fellow of “ComPASS” research group in the Institute of Geography and Regional Sciences of the University of Graz and an Associate Professor of the Tourism Department in the University of Law and Economics “KROK” (Kyiv, Ukraine). Being both a scholar in the field of Human Geography and a tourism development practitioner, Dr. Rastvorova works on the issues of nation and destination branding, tourism recovery and regional developmen
